Welcome to Parenting with a Smile! We are Natalie T., Natalie D., and Eliza! We are passionate about parenting and making it a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We have spent our college careers studying family life and have learned so much to improve our familial relationships and parenting skills. We want to share our knowledge with you!
Studies have shown that positive parenting techniques can have a lasting impact on children for generations. Unfortunately, parenting is often viewed by those in the role as burdensome or difficult. Some parenting strategies are harsh and unresponsive which may cause children to respond in aggressive and unkind ways in society and in the family. Therefore, it is essential for parents to learn strategies to make parenting a more positive experience to increase not only their children’s happiness and success, but for their children’s children to follow in the future.
The overall goal for our parenting website is to help parents learn and implement attitudes and techniques that create a more positive parenting experience for both child and parent. Our hope is that this program will create ways for parents to help children through developmental stages and find success and joy in their families and life, all while remaining positive and enjoying the ride.
We recognize that there is a extremely wide range of diversity among parents. Our website is set up to cater to individual needs. Across the top of the page you will find different tabs customized for three different groups. Parenting the Parent contains information for parents who are looking to improve their outlook on parenting by taking care of their individual needs. Parenting the Young Child is for parents with children with children ages newborn-12 looking for techniques and ideas to make this stage of parenting enjoyable and more positive. And lastly, Parenting the Teen is for parents who are trying to make it through the difficult teen years and keeping a healthy and positive relationship with their children.
